Stop The Violence - A Story from Both Sides

September 11, 2001, will forever be remember as the day the Twin Towers fell. For me, it's the day I lost my older brother and my best friend. 2 very short weeks later, I also lost my cousin who was by far the most favorite cousin (on my mother's side) because she was the only one who actually treated me like I mattered and always went out of her way to involve me in things as well as conversations.

My Thoughts on ICE

I'm torn on this matter. For one, I totally believe on what ICE stands for. I believe that people should come across the border legally. On the other hand, how they are going about getting people out, that is something I do not believe is right! I think we seriously need to make it easier for others to migrate to our state/country and we wouldn't have the problem that we are now facing.

Second Chance at Motherhood

How do I begin to explain? Back in the day I used to be naive, unmature and frankly, a little bit stupid. I spent 3 years in and out of the Davis County Jail earning myself the nickname Bizquick from making decisions I'm not so very proud of such as 2 DUIs and thinking that if I ignored a ticket, it would somehow magically disappear like bills from the hospital.  They don't, by the way, disappear. In that time frame I was also in a very abusive relationship both physically and mentally and one night when I went to jail DCFS stepped in and took my children since no one was available to pick them up.

The Struggle is Real

I get discouraged sometimes, especially when I put my time and effort into something and I don't see results. For example, this page. I was super excited to finally put everything together and I only have 3 ratings on the page, no emails, no comments, no calls, and definitely no orders. I think about and I think it really is based off of who you know in life. My cousin has started a little business for herself to try to earn money for her first car, she's the same age as my daughter, 14, and already has 1,438 followers and has made over $900 already from selling popsicles. Do you think she would have had such success if her mother wasn't famous and bringing her to events? NO!!!

My Birth Stories

My cousin Whitney recently wrote about her birth story and as I was reading it, I realized it is so true what she said, that you just hear about these amazing birth stories and see these beautiful home births...but what about the not so beautiful ones? What about the c-section mothers? The ones who feel like we failed because we were not able to push our babies out and had to be cut open?

Facebook Dating Led Me to My Husband

Mind you, I hardly ever get out since I work a lot and when I'm not working, I like to work on hobbies like blogging or even diamond art or I'm busy taking care of the kids and things around the house. I figured to meet anyone I better join a dating site. I did try a few different ones. Plenty of Fish being one, but it seemed like everyone that is on that site is just after a booty call and I wasn't about that, I wanted to meet someone and form a connection. Being poor, I was trying to find free sites I could go on, which there are not many, I'm afraid. I figured why not try Facebook Dating since I'm on Facebook at least once a day looking at my memories.

New Passion Found

After I left my ex-husband, I moved out where I rented a single bedroom in a basement of a home. I paid $500 a month with the first month's rent and last month's rent expected. I had just barely started working at a flower shop, so I had $0 to my name. My landlord still let me move in with an agreement that I would pay him $400-500 every paycheck until I was caught up on rent and what I owed.  It took me a few months, but I was able to do it! I was so proud of that room because it was mine! I paid for it and it was the first place I had that was completely mine. My landlord kept raising the rent though. I was there for 4 years and left paying $700 for that room. Ridiculous.

A Little About Me

My name is Lisa and I am 39 years old, turning 40 this year. I was raised by a single mother who had 4 boys and of course, me, the only girl. My dad was around but he didn't contribute very much money since he was more on the poor side. He was a true cowboy and what you call a horse whisper. I was the only girl in the family and I was the tomboy.

Toxic Marriage

I met my ex-husband while we both working together in 2012. He was a maintenance man and I was a cook. He was married at the time, but we were just coworkers and then things fell apart for him with his marriage.  He ended up moving into a hotel and that when we started hanging out t and next thing I knew I was offering him a place to stay with me and my 2 children. He was an acholic and a manipulator and as I found out very early on a cheater as well. I can't tell you how many times I found other women's bras and panties in our home
